This is going to make things more complicated but "live" can be pronounced two different ways and it means different things depending on how it is pronounced.

Typically the rule is that the "i" is pronounced like it is in "life" if the word ends in "e". For example: hid and hide. But there are a lot of times when this rule doesn't work.
